Find a Doula

Evidence-based, in-person support.

Why a doula

Continuous support is one of the most well-studied interventions in birth.

Continuous doula support is associated with lower cesarean rates, less use of pain medication, shorter labors in some studies, and higher satisfaction with the birth experience. Labor Lens is the reading room — a doula is the person beside you.

What to look for

  • • Trained and certified through a recognized program (DONA, CAPPA, ICEA, ProDoula, BADT).
  • • Practices informed consent and BRAIN-style decision support — not agenda-driven.
  • • Comfortable with your planned birth setting (hospital, birth center, or home).
  • • Clear scope: non-clinical, supportive, works alongside your care team.
  • • Trauma-aware and a good personal fit — most doulas offer a free interview.
